Katy Perry isn't donning any silly, over-the-top costumes for her new "Unconditionally" video.
Released on Tuesday, the clip casts the pop star in a new, more mature light, moving away from the campy, candy-themed focus of her "Teenage Dream" hits. "Unconditionally" is directed by Tarsem Singh, who is also behind films like "Mirror Mirror" and "The Cell."
Most of the video features Katy belting out the love song in the middle of a large ballroom, as couples circle her dancing in period costumes. At the end, she's shown being hit by a car and falling in slow motion into a body of water.
The singer previously explained to "MTV" that the fall was supposed to represent the feeling of being hit with love.
"Unconditionally" is the second single off Katy's new album Prism, following "Roar."
